Postnatal
When a Mother arrives home with her new baby, it is really important that she has plenty of support to enable her to rest, bond with her baby and establish feeding. Support from an experienced Mother and Doula, enables the new Mother to care for her baby with confidence. A postnatal Doula's role is varied and tailored to the specific needs of the family. Postnatal Doula's Support and encourage the Mother in all aspects of caring for her new baby, offering practical and emotional support.
A postnatal Doula will help with the running of the home, with light housework, shopping, cooking and caring for other children, offering support at the times of day the Mother needs it most, either for the whole day, or later on in the day to help with tea, bath and bed time.
"Fiona has a very grounded and flexible approach to supporting the whole family; making suggestions without imposing a view or taking over unnecessarily. She was able to take the initiative to get on with whatever other 'chores' needed to be done around the house in order to make life work i.e. ironing, laundry etc. She would send me to bed to get some much needed extra sleep, and occupy my 2 1/2 yr old daughter whilst I was taken up with the boys."(Mother to twins, Sevenoaks)

"I was feeling overwhelmed at being at home with such a vulnerable and precious baby. Fiona came
round and helped me feed, change, and showed me how to bath my baby. She even showed me how to fit my car seat and wear my sling. When Fiona left, I felt so much more positive and in control." (Mother to Owen, Southborough.)
Nights
The first night at home with your new baby is a very special occasion. You may have returned home from hospital or be spending your first night alone following a home birth. In hospital, midwives are on hand to reassure you about your baby's wellbeing, assist with feeding, and help you to get some rest. Unfortunately, you can't take your midwife home with you! As an added peace of mind during your first night at home, I will come to your home and stay with you during the night, should you need any support.
